Harry Roseland is a beloved and well-respected artist who was born and lived his entire life in Brooklyn, NY.
He was a self-taught Realist painter of mainly Oils on high quality canvas. Once recognized, he drew the attention and was tutored by George Whitaker and James Carroll Beckwith.
This is a print of one of his most loved paintings among many. ‘The First Lesson’ depicts a vivid, real, almost photographic quality representation of two character images. Dressed in absolutely authentic fashion and seated together at a kitchen table, you can almost hear the gentle guidance of a first cooking lesson.
Created as a collaboration with Knox Gelatin, this is a classic period print, from 1901, from a well-know artist
