This is an original early Boy Scouts of America First Class brass lapel pin, featuring the classic fleur-de-lis with eagle and shield emblem, flanked by two stars. The back is marked “B S of A – PAT 1911”, dating this pin to the early decades of Scouting in the U.S.

Made of solid brass with an early safety pin fastener, this badge likely dates from the 1910s through the 1930s. The “PAT 1911” patent date corresponds to the earliest trademark of the BSA emblem, shortly after the organization was established in 1910.

This smaller lapel-sized version was commonly worn on early uniforms and hats by First Class Scouts. Its well-aged patina, crisp detailing, and authentic back mark make it a desirable piece for serious BSA insignia collectors.

Historical Note:
Early “PAT 1911” brass pins are among the most collected BSA insignia. They reflect the earliest era of American Scouting — a time when membership was still small and badges were manufactured in limited numbers.
