VERY RARE! 2 SS Normandie Menus from 1937!!
These beautiful, original menus from the November 1937 voyage of doomed cruise ship the SS Normandie which sailed from 1935 until 1942 when it caught fire in New York harbor and capsized.
Famed for its lavish art deco interiors and celebrity clientele, the SS Normandie’s menus feature hand colored reproductions of "Les Costumes Normands de jadis”
I bought these at an estate sale but they were framed to display only the artwork. I noticed some impression from the menu and got curious so I removed the frames and was delighted to find these historical and rare menus. Best I can tell they had been framed in the 1950s or 1960s and had been untouched since then.
Some foxing and damage including tape residue as shown in the photos but otherwise in excellent antique condition.
These will be shipped in clear acid free archival bags. I will also ship with protective materials to prevent bending.
