I have tried to research this type of craft, but some of the facts remain nebulous. What I know for certain is that these came from Alaska in the 1970s, that they were most likely crafted by the Inuit or Yupik people, that they're made of some manner of real hide, wood and either rabbit or reindeer fur. Regardless of the details, these a wonderful puppets, a lovely pieces of folk art.

There is glue residue on the back of both puppets from the labels that were originally there (please see photos).
