This is a set of seven bowls from the Nippon era. These porcelain bowls have a floral pattern in green and blue as well as trim in gold and red. The bigger bowl is 8 1/2 inches across and 2 inches tall while the small smaller bowls are 4 1/2 inches across and 1 inch tall. These could be used for decoration or they could be utilized as well.
The bottom of the larger bowl says “Hand Painted Nippon”. (it is difficult to see). The smaller bowls, even though they are an exact match, say Japan on the back.
The word "Nippon" is the Japanese word for "Japan". Between 1891 and 1921, U.S. federal law required all imported goods to be marked with the country of origin in English. During this period, porcelain items exported from Japan were marked with "Nippon" or "Made in Nippon".
So, these bowls are at least 100 years old. I have found no nicks, scratches, chips or anything of the sort on these bowls. They look absolutely perfect. I’m going to ask 20 for shipping because these are going to
