I have not seen New Zealand's Milford Sound, the subject of this unusual painting, so I can't tell by the angle whether it depicts a sunset or a dawn. In either case, this is a beautiful, haunting image, painted in 1969, in New Zealand.
The canvas is 5"x7". The frame is 11"x13".
The frame is made of wood. The black inner band is velvet-like material over wood. The framing was done by Laura's Arts N Fads, Longbeach, California, USA.
The painting ought to be cleaned. I have no idea how to safely do that, and therefore dare not try. Although the framing has been done professionally, and the frame is lovely, I wonder whether the painting might be better displayed in a simpler frame. I guess it will be up to you, if you choose to make this piece your own!
