This is a hand-painted French Provençal clay figurine, known as a santon, depicting a herdsman (gardian) and an Arlésienne woman riding on a white horse. Emblems of the Camargue herds, the gardians are depicted riding their magnificent white horses in the company of their bulls, or in parade costume, taking a beautiful Arlesienne to the festival. Charming ceramic figurine featuring a couple on a white horse. The man wears a blue shirt and brown pants, while the woman is in a red dress with a white shawl. A vibrant green base completes the piece.
