Company History
Founded by Louis E. Smith, the company initially focused on utilitarian glassware.
Over time, L.E. Smith became a significant producer of Depression glass, milk glass, decorative glass, and revival carnival glass.
Owens-Illinois, Inc. purchased the company in 1975, and it operated as a subsidiary.
Although there was an attempt to continue operations in 2005, production eventually ceased.
