Design Pigs, Climb a Tree
Kyoichi Tsuzuki

From pink movie posters and decorated trucks to elderly scrappers, this collection showcases the world of Kyoichi Tsuzuki, delivering a powerful punch to bland designs! This long-awaited book compiles his legendary series from "Idea" and "ART iT."

Why is Tadanori Yokoo discussed in the media, but why doesn't anyone seriously discuss Ado Mizumori, who equally represents the 70s? If you're talking about graffiti from America and Harajuku, why not talk about Mr. Sekiguchi, the charismatic owner of a decorated truck? Why don't the advertisements for Ueno Clinic, featuring a man in a turtleneck, which so clearly convey a message, receive advertising criticism or awards? This book contains a fundamental critique of art journalism, which can't see anything other than works displayed in fashionable galleries and museums as art worthy of discussion.

Even if it's a light-year away from concepts like "concept," "stylishness," and "good taste," there's something that still moves us. Those things created by nameless designers can be said to be excellent designs that humanity has achieved. This book completely overturns the values of "beautiful design" and "excellent design."
