Condition is poor as the text is more than 130 years old. All pages are in order and crisp. Binding is nearly separated and delicate as well as the inside-cover large Introductory engravings page.

The information in this book took entire expeditions to retrieve and they make that clear in the preface: "Whoever expects to find the volume entirely free from defects, has but little acquaintance with the difficulties ever attendant upon procuring such materials."
