This is a pair of Handmade Waraji Sandals made in the Phillippines during World War 2. I believe they are hemp but could be some form of straw. They are golden straw color with an open toe strap and heel strap. They are 9-1/4" long which makes them around a women's US size 7.
These shoes have never been worn and have been stored away in a sealed bag all these years with some correspondence from the early 1940s. They are in new condition with no damage or defects.
