Watson Jr.(1914-1993)was an American businessman, philanthropist,politcal figure and the son of the founder of IBM. In 1946 he joined his father at IBM and in 1956 was made the company's second CEO shortly before his father's death. His movement of company operations into the computer industry catapulted revenue and growth to historic levels and gave birth to the computer age. He resigned his position in 1971 due to a heart attack but entered the political world as an advisor to JFK on America's nuclear defense policies and was appointed the 16th ambassador to Russia under the Carter administration (1979-1981).
