Dancing Butterflies" demitasse is a very rare find. Detailed rendition of dainty,flying butterflies,white clouds among peonies. This seller opines this captivating artwork is probably from renowned Japanese artisans. Eg: Meiji? Satsuma?Hayashi? Kutani?No marks but the peonies give a big clue as to origin.This set was stored in a box for years & belonged to old owners grandmother
You can almost see their movement through the air & feel the embossed texture of the hand paint. 22 or 24k rims & gold outlines of the clouds - catches the light in a magical way. This item is rare
The set is handmade,Handpainted w/Gold gilding. A vintage/antique piece probably from the early 1900s or older but not proven. The cup is made of very thin bone china - it is quite translucent when held up to the light.
