Antique German Majolica Ceramic "Bird & Vine" Pattern Turquoise Plate By, Highmount.
These 2 plates are signed on the underside, Highmount-Made In Western Germany-230-UA gorgeous antique majolica plate with a lovely relief molded two birds and grapes on the vine, hand painted underglaze in vibrant colors over turquoise blue background. This decorative plate was made in Germany in the first quarter of the 20-th century, design by Georg Schmider of Zell Pottery. Perfect for the Farmhouse or French Country style interior decor. Condition: Overall very good near perfect looking vintage condition, with no chips , no cracks and no crazing . The plate measures just under 7 inches (17 cm) in diameter and 2/3 inches (1.7 cm) high. Marked on the bottom: Made in Germany, 23 (pattern number) and R - maker's mark. On the bottom there are also typical stilt marks from the kiln.
